Recently, during a brainstorming session on Google Meet with the content team, we stumbled upon a reel on Instagram that caught our attention. The reel featured an influencer hailing a taxi driver and taking him to his favorite restaurant. Inspired by the concept, we decided to create a similar video with auto-rickshaw drivers in Mumbai.
We knew it wouldn't be easy to convince the drivers to participate in our video. After all, it's not every day that someone asks to take you to their favorite restaurant for a free meal. We started approaching the drivers, but most of them were skeptical, thinking it was a prank. We got rejected by 5 (five) drivers before finally finding an auto-wale uncle who agreed to participate.
Before the shoot, we were nervous and excited. We met the auto driver and explained the concept to him. To our surprise, he was excited about the idea and agreed to take us to the restaurant. The journey was a fun and enjoyable experience. We chatted with the driver and learned more about his life and experiences as an auto driver in Mumbai.
At the restaurant, we continued our conversation with the auto driver and got to know him better. It was heartwarming to see how happy he was to have this experience and how much it meant to him.
After the shoot, we thanked the auto driver and left feeling grateful for the opportunity to connect with someone from a different background and share a meal with him.

Talking about the response, everything was great until 10:30pm, Tuesday when uncle's request to take down the video may have come as a surprise, especially if there was no prior indication or agreement that the video should be taken down.
It's important to empathise with the uncle's son and his feelings towards the video. It's also important to understand that mental health is a sensitive issue and it's crucial to take it seriously.
Taking down the video was a considerate response, and it's commendable that Amar tried to understand the uncle's son's concern. However, it's important to have a clear understanding of the situation before taking any action.
In this case, the uncle's wife's call the next morning to unarchive the video adds another layer to the situation. It's important to have an open and honest conversation with both the uncle and his wife to understand their views and concerns. Aunty was very happy with the overwhelming response and requested to unarchive the video and share it to the fullest.
